She Ain't Pretty, She Just Looks That Way.

Ok, I've been reasonably fair, and tried to look at the shenanigans of both candidates, but Palin has gone too far. Yesterday she accused Obama of seeing America as "as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country." This ludicrous claim is based on the fact that Bill Ayers, a founder of the radical Weather Underground, an organization responsible for some early 70's bombings, lives in his neighborhood. Obama has said he has met the man but does not sympathize with the 63 year old, who he describes as "somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8."

It was bad enough when people were trying to connect Obama to his whack-job former pastor, but at least that made a modicum of sense. To accuse him of palling around with terrorists because an aging radical lives in his neighborhood is bullshit of the highest degree. I had hoped that Sarah Palin was a good woman who got thrust into a position she wasn't really prepared for, but now I see that she is every bit as disingenuous and evil as Dick Cheney and Karl Rove, and between her infuriating condescension during the debate, and this latest round of repugnant falsehoods I have lost any and all respect for her.

I hope you are well enough to watch SNL tonight. It should be good, although, it almost doesn't seem fair that Tina Fey is getting such great material.
As far as "She ain't pretty, She just looks that way"...it makes me think of people who said of
Jeffrey Dahmer, "He looked so nice and handsome".
Evil comes in all packages my friends. Why should it be a suprise that she may be just another (stupid) Dick Cheney with (to borrow the joke) LIPSTICK!

On the cold front: Invest in a netti pot (you can get one at a pharmacy).
It does take a little getting used to, but using it often (and regularly during cold season) will wash all that crap out.
Many traveling actor friends of mine (as well as my own testimonial) swear good health by it.
So, what could it hurt??

The tactics of smear and fear worked so well for the GOP for so long, that you can't blame them for thinking it would work this time. Oh wait, yes, yes you can. The polls show an ever-increasing lead for Sen. Obama over Sen. McCain and *every* thing the GOP tried to do to weaken Obama's number just weaken their own.
When you have NO plan, NO solution and NO clue for the country, you resort to Swiftboating. This just shows that the GOP has finally lost what was left of its credibility.
If you want to read what a REAL republican looks like - read the NYT Sunday magazine on Tom Davis. Of course, Rep. Davis is retiring....and more's the pity.

This is evidently the "focus" of the McCain campaign now. They're behind in the polls beyond the error of margin, and they know that they can't win on the issues, so they have stated that they're going after Obama's character. Unfortunately for them, Obama's character is in pretty good shape, so Plan B is "We'll Continue to Make Shit Up!" I'm sure that Palin's statement was written for her and she dutifully recited it. She probably doesn't have the vaguest idea who Ayers is and I wouldn't be surprised if she's never heard of the Weather Underground. That's the advantage of having a half-wit for a running mate. You can get her to make outrageous statements and if she gets called on it, then you just fall back on, "well, she's not polished and glib and sophisticated. She's a straight shooter! Her best friend is Joe Sixpack, not Joe Terrorist." They shift the focus to how it was said instead of the fact that it's a lie, and in that way they get to maintain the lie until for a lot of voters it hardens into truth.

I never had any respect for Palin, so there's none for me to lose, but McCain is another story. Selecting Palin demonstrated a severe lack of judgment, and running a campaign so dirty that even Karl Rove thinks it's gone too far says a lot more about McCain's character than I think he intended. November 4th can't come soon enough.

your friends do count- they tell people something about your values. Let's talk about the Keating Five.

Friends yes, but this guy just happens to live near Obama. And I'm afraid I don't know the Keating Five.

Are you saying you don't "personally" know the Keating Five, or that you don't know about them?

In a nutshell, 5 US Senators interfered with an investigation of a savings and loan. The investigation was stopped and no action was taken against the S&L.

The S&L then went under and a lot of people lost a lot of money, a bunch of retirees lost their life savings, and it cost the gov't something along the lines of $2 Billion.

Four of the five senators were Democrats. The lone republican? Senator John McCain. Name sound familiar?
