What I Miss

I wish I could go back in time and make sure to tell myself not to take these moments for granted:

Having everyone I cared about within a few minutes' drive.
Playing D&D with the gang.
Those first terrifying, wonderful weeks with C.
The Tree, and hitting the road.
Lake Worth beach before they closed it at night.
Godzillogies.
Coffee at The Clock with Barb and Lisa.
Poker with the Pope Theatre folks.
The Major's Pub.
Pool at Kelly's.
Karaoke.
Star Trek night at Kim and Todd's.
Rocky Horror.
La Femme Nikita.

I'm not unhappy with my life now, but I can't help but wonder if I fully appreciated the times that seemed like they'd last forever, yet will never come again.

How 'bout you? Any memories of times past that you feel you could have appreciated more at the time?

Maybe a few beers will help.

They did me.

Music does this to me- it mostly boils down to the times in my 20's were I could stay out all night and still make it to work the next day. When I had a "real" job- but it consumed very little of my free time. When I had a posse of friends that became my family and possibilities were still endless.
Monkey- for whatever reason your page will not let me log into it anymore?

Maybe it's the beer making you feel nostalgic?!

Reads like you miss time with your friends and "the butterfly season" with C - I know that feeling, and do miss it as well, but I also know that I truly enjoy the times we have now and try to appreciate them fully...

We all feel like that at some point, we miss what we once were, I think that happens when we realise that we're aging... boohoo... but... other good things come with that, or so I try to remind myself! ;-)

I also miss Buffy, Murphy Brown and the Golden Girls...

Sheeeeiiiiit! Come talk to me in 15 years and THEN tell me what you miss! Like the ability to walk in a mall for more than 1/2 hour, or no pain (anywhere!) for more than a couple of hours, the ability to sleep for a full 7-8 hours! Ha! That all seems like a fairy tale I read a long time ago!

Having said all that, I have found that I have, in fact, become far more appreciative of the things I DO have in my life, like amazing friends (like you), an amazing (if small) family, reasonable financial security for my future, a home I love, animals I love. . . life is beyond good, frankly. What you really have to do is stop thinking about what you USED to be able to have/do and thank the Universe for what you are now able to have/do. Want me to start the list for you?

Muah!
