Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear. Thomas Jefferson

Things I Just Don't Get
That anyone pays attention to political ads.
That anyone pays attention to advertisements, period.
People who buy more than one lottery ticket.
People who still think Iraq had anything to do with 9/11.
The appeal of reality television.
Chris Tucker.
Why Conservatives preach less government, then try to legislate morality.
How politicians can tear each other's throats out during the race for nomination, then act like fast friends once the nominee is chosen.
How two men, or two women marrying will invalidate my marriage.
Why are people so willing to give up their self-determination and intelligence in the face of sound bytes and attack ads.
Why are there so many cures for erectile dysfunction, and so few for cancer.
I'm Marius, and I approved this message.

Well, I would guess that fear & insecurity is at the root of most of those things. But mostly I'm writing to say I LOVE your ending!
Add to the list:
Why there are drugs for erectile dysfunction for men, yet no equivalent for women.
Why, after it's been talked about for so many years (decades), there are still no birth control options for men other than condoms and sterilization.
Why there's nothing wrong with a (young)man who's sexually active, yet a (young)woman (or girl) who admits to being so is a slut and a whore.
As for the appeal of reality television, I have three words for you: Take Home Chef. :D
But I wholeheartedly agree with your post.
