You Have Got To Be Kidding

I was just sent a link, via Twitter, to this site. I didn't go beyond the front page, where you can find even more pictures like those above. I know that the dogs aren't being harmed, but this just seems so very, very wrong to me, but I can't really put my finger on why. I guess if you want to have a pet chicken, or camel, or peacock go buy one. DON'T PAINT YOUR PETS!!!

Jim Morrison was right. People are strange.

Oh ... no. I mean, I guess it's better than people who bring a dog home, chain it up in the yard, and then forget about it, but still, this is just creepy.

To me, and I realize this is extreme, but it borders on animal abuse! I doubt if I had a poodle I'd even give it the "traditional" poodle cut!

The sad part is there are magazines devoted to this "art" form. Give me a sloppy old mutt any day.

I remember an article by a local columnist, from many moons ago...

He was remeniscing about the family dog, which happened to be a standard poodle.

When the dog was "grown out", it was the family pet. He and his brother would play with it in the front yard, take it for walks, etc.

About once a year his mother would get a wild hair and take the dog to the groomers for a classic poodle cut, bows and all.

After these times, it seemed the dog was too prissy, and was "mama's show dog" with the 20 word name, and no one wanted to play, nor, it seemed, did the dog.

After a few weeks, the hair would start to grow back, and the show dog became the family pet again.

The inevitable sad part of the story came when the dog ran into the street one day, and was struck by a car. As Ron W put it, "He died with his bows on."

Personally, I say put down the clippers and let the poor dog be a dog.
