Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear. Thomas Jefferson

The anguish of last night has become a moot point. I was informed today that my mother has taken a turn for the worse, and isn't expected to make it another two weeks. I'll be heading down to West Palm on Tuesday morning. My Mother-In-Law has offered to come up and help out in my absence, which is a huge load off my mind, but please understand to anyone down there that I won't be doing my usual rounds of visits and socializing. I'll post updates as events warrant. Right now we are trying to figure out where to hold a service. For some reason my mom canceled her life insurance last year some time, so we can't afford a funeral home. Nor do we know any clergy in the area. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Please bear with me, my friends. I am not programmed to respond in this area.

Sorry to hear about the latest turn of events Rick. Just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts at this time. Stay strong.

I'm so sorry. I hope that these next few weeks will be as peaceful and as painless as possible, for all of you.
There is something called the Funerals Consumer Alliance that has several member organizations in Florida. Some of these local chapters negotiate significant discounts with local funeral homes. I know the affiliate we have here is excellent, but I don't know anything about the chapters in your state, so I would suggest that you talk to a social worker at your mom's hospital. He or she should have more information about them, as well as other options that might work for your family. There are a lot of practical details that you won't think of now, and your mom's doctors might not think to send a social worker or patient advocate (if they have one) your way, so ask one of the nurses to put you in touch with one.
Be kind to yourself. You'll get through this.
My thoughts are with you. You will get through this.
I am so sorry to hear that Admiral. I hope, and I know, that you can get through the hard times ahead of you. My thoughts are with you and your family.
YOu and your family are in my heart...I am so sorry that you have to go through this.

I'm in tears as I write this. I have fond memories of playing scrabble with you and your mother. I hope she is peaceful. Also, on a practical note, I think Social Security has some sort of payment they make for funeral expenses. You could check into that.

Am thinking of you, pidge. So sorry to read this x
So sorry Marius. Please do let us know when/if there is a service. I only met your mother a couple of times, but I reacll her being very sweet. My heart, prayers & love are with you and your family.
You are being prayed for in Pineville. Don't worry about the money right now. Take care of yourself and family at this time.
Doug
